Robert Lewandowski extends Bayern Munich contract to 2021

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has signed a contract extension committing him to the Bundesliga champions until 2021, the club have announced.

Lewandowski, 28, joined on a free transfer from Bayern's bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014, and has since added two more German league titles to the pair he won at the Westfalenstadion.

The Poland international said in a post on his official Twitter account: "This club gives me all i need to make my dreams come true! New challenges ahead of us! MiaSanMia!"

Lewandowski had been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months after one of the striker's agents told Der Spiegel that talks with the Spanish club had taken place.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, though, said in May that Lewandowski was not for sale at any price, and in October he said talks over an extension were progressing well.

Uli Hoeness, who has recently been re-elected as club president, also said this week that Lewandowski had been offered lucrative new terms.
