Man City target Leroy Sane wants summer exit from Schalke - club GM

Schalke general manager Christian Heidel has said Leroy Sane has made it clear to the club he wants to leave this summer.

Sane, 20, is a target of Manchester City and reports indicate that Schalke is close to sealing a deal that would see Sane join Pep Guardiola's team.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were also said to still be in the race to sign Sane, according to the winger's father, but Carlo Ancelotti cooled talks of a move to Bavaria on Tuesday saying: "We don't need new players."

Heidel told kicker: "Leroy has clearly stated that he wants to leave this summer.

"We have to accept this. We will only discuss a transfer if the conditions are best for Schalke."

Later on Thursday evening Heidel added in Bild: "I can't confirm that the deal has reached its final stage. This would mean that he could be gone by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow."

Guardiola has already bolstered his squad ahead of his first campaign as a manager in the Premier League by signing Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, Nolito from Celta Vigo and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Russian club Ufa.
