Bayern Munich rule out Robert Lewandowski sale to Real Madrid

Robert Lewandowski will stay at Bayern Munich despite interest from Real Madrid, according to the German club's CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Lewandowski's agent has confirmed to Der Spiegel that talks with Madrid have already taken place, and the 27-year-old Poland international told the publication that he may look to "try something new" after six years in the Bundesliga.

However, Rummenigge said Lewandowski, who joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, has three years remaining on his contract and will not be permitted to leave.

Rummenigge told kicker: "One thing I know for sure -- Robert Lewandowski will play at Bayern Munich in the coming season."

He added: "The decision has been made. We will not sell Robert Lewandowski. No matter which offer we will receive. There is no pain barrier."

Lewandowski finished 2015-16 as the Bundesliga's top scorer, becoming the first non-German to reach 30 goals.
