Lyon's Nabil Fekir reveals Barcelona ambition, eyes return for Euro 2016

Nabil Fekir is dreaming of earning a move to Barcelona once he returns from a cruciate ligament injury and the Lyon attacker has not yet given up hope of making Euro 2016.

Fekir, 22, underwent surgery in September after hurting his right knee in Portugal while making his first start for France.

Lyon have struggled in the absence of last season's Ligue 1 Player of the Year, with club president Jean Michel-Aulas suggesting that if Fekir had been playing they would not have crashed out of Europe.

The Lyon academy graduate, who had attracted the attention of Europe's big clubs last season and scored a stunning hat trick against Caen earlier this term before his injury, says he is hopeful of getting his career back on track.

"In my head, I have a lot of dreams," Fekir told L'Equipe. "I'm not going to talk about them straight away. For a start, I want to get back on the pitch, to be able to give my best for Lyon and then to join a big club. That's my goal.

"My favourite club is Barca. But a lot of work needs to be done -- I'm aware of that."

Fekir says it would be a good Christmas present if he is able to run again in December and he still holds out of hope of returning to action in time to make France's Euro 2016 squad.

"It would be a big disappointment," he said of the prospect of missing out on next summer's tournament in France.

"But I would support Les Bleus and say that life goes on -- that I'm still young. But I'm a competitor -- I want to be there.

"Things will become clearer in February or March. I'd like to come back in March. If it's a little earlier, all the better."

When asked to rate his chances of forcing his way back into France manager Didier Deshcamps' plans by next June, Fekir declined to speculate.

"I'm not making any estimate," he said. "If I get there, it would be great. If I don't make it, it wouldn't be the end of the world either."
