Real Madrid agree transfer fee for Martin Odegaard

Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Stromsgodset for the transfer of Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard, the club announced early Thursday morning.

According to a report from Spanish outlet AS.com earlier in January, Madrid will reportedly pay four million euros to the Norwegian side for the services of Odegaard. Madrid's announcement did not disclose the terms of the agreement.

The 16-year-old will undergo a medical Thursday before being introduced at a press conference at the Ciudad Real Madrid training facility at 13.30 CET.

Wednesday morning, Stromsgodset teammate Martin Ovenstad told news outlets that Odegaard would sign with Real Madrid after being courted by a host of Europe's biggest clubs and finest academies. Odegaard has already spent time with Madrid's first team as he toured clubs across the continent, having spent time with Bayern Munich and Liverpool as well.

Odegaard scored five goals in 23 games for Stromsgodset to help the team finish fourth in the Tippeligaen last year. Last October, he became the youngest player in the history of the European Championship when he came on as a substitute in Norway's 2-1 victory over Bulgaria in a Euro 2016 qualifier.
