Ajax Cape Town edge closer to safety, Celtic snatch late draw

Ajax Cape Town edge closer to Premier Soccer League safety following a 2-0 win against Platinum Stars on Sunday afternoon.

It's been a massive struggle for the Urban Warriors this season, but the nerves were settled early on when Grant Margeman buried Travis Graham's through-ball.

Ndiviwe Mdabuka made sure of the points in the second half; his deflected shot giving goalkeeper Mpeta no chance.

The result sees Ajax move up to 10th spot with 29 points from 26 games, while Stars are a place and three points behind.

In the day's other game, Lyle Lakay netted late on as Bloemfontein Celtic stole a point at relegation-threatened Baroka FC.

Mzwanele Mahashe netted early on for the hosts, and they could well have been four goals up by the time Lakay's deflected shot beat goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke in the 80th minute.

The point sees Baroka move level with Free State Stars on 23 points, one better than bottom-placed Highlands Park. Celtic are 12th with 25 points from as many games.
