Issa Sarr rescues a point for Orlando Pirates against Baroka FC

Issa Sarr scored a face-saving last-minute goal as Orlando Pirates rescued a point against lowly Baroka FC in the Absa Premiership on Thursday evening.

It's been a horrid season for the Buccaneers, who have won only five times all season and are stuck in the bottom half of the table in the year of their 80th celebrations.

They had enough chances to win this match against bottom side Baroka, but instead found themselves behind with 12 minutes remaining when Victor Letsoalo's shot from range went through goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane's hands and into the back of the net. However, Senegalese midfielder ensured a degree of pride was restored, heading home deep into injury-time to secure a 1-1 draw.

It leaves them a massive 21 points behind leaders Cape Town City, who beat the other Soweto giant, Kaizer Chiefs, 3-2 last night.

In Wednesday's other game, strugglers Free State Stars fought back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against Platinum Stars.

Veteran striker Henrico Botes had given the visitors the lead with an 11th-minute header from Gerald Phiri's free-kick. However, Nhlanhla Vilakazi curled a beautiful effort around the keeper shortly afterwards for a share of the spoils, though they remain just one point above the dropzone.
