Alexandre Lacazette is expected to seek clarification over his role in the Arsenal team amid growing speculation the club will allow him to leave for around £40 million this summer, sources have told ESPN.
The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his contract but has been linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium, most notably in a deal to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
Atletico and Juventus have explored the possibility of signing Lacazette but have been told they would have to pay close to £40m to secure his services, a fee neither club have as yet shown any willingness to match.
Sources have told ESPN that the Gunners were determined to ensure they did not lose Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Lacazette in the same transfer window.
Aubameyang has agreed a new three-year contract worth £250,000-a-week with the club expected to make a long-awaited confirmation announcement in the next few days and could even be before their opening Premier League fixture against Fulham on Saturday, sources have told ESPN.
Attentions have since shifted to Lacazette, who was left out of the Community Shield penalty shootout victory over Liverpool as he builds up his match fitness.

Arteta would ideally like to retain Lacazette to maintain Arsenal's squad depth but recognises the club is under pressure to offload several individuals given they have more than 30 first-team players on their books and need to fund transfers.
