"He was wanted by a number of clubs at this level and we're delighted to have managed to sign him," Stoke manager Nathan Jones said in a statement.

The defender made 33 appearances for Swansea last season and helped them to reach the quarterfinals of the FA Cup where they lost to eventual winners Manchester City.

Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes added: "We are really pleased to welcome Cameron to the Club. He made a big impression for Swansea last season and he will add to Nathan's defensive options."

Carter-Vickers has made eight international appearances with the U.S. national team but was left out of the squad for this summer's Gold Cup.
