TOP STORY: Spurs sign highly-rated duo; Arsenal bring in two defenders

Tottenham fans have been getting pretty excited over the past few days and, while Paulo Dybala's £65 million move from Juventus has fallen through, a pair of highly-rated players have arrived.

Spurs sealed a "deadline double" with Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso arriving on a season-long loan and Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon joining for £25m. Prior to this window, the club did not sign a player for more than a year, but have since splashed the cash, signing four players when earlier deals for Tanguy Ndombele (£55m) and Jack Clarke (£11.5m) are incorporated.

Meanwhile on the other side of North London, Arsenal were just as busy on deadline, adding Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney for £25m and Chelsea central defender David Luiz for £8m. The duo joins £72m forward Nicolas Pepe, midfield loanee Dani Ceballos and defender William Saliba, who was immediately lent back to St Etienne.

And, two days after club captain Laurent Koscielny left the Emirates for Bordeaux, Arsenal offloaded winger Alex Iwobi to Everton for a fee believed to be between £35-40m.

LIVE BLOG

23.30 BST: That will do it for a busy Premier League and Championship deadline day! The European window is still open for a few more weeks so we will continue to bring you fresh transfer rumours, reports and completed deals. For those in England, the Premier League returns tomorrow and remember, there are only 146 days until the January transfer window opens...

22.59 BST: The Daily Mail reports that Saido Berahino will sign for Belgian side Zulte Waregem after a stint training with the club.

The 26-year-old was released by Stoke earlier this month, despite having three years remaining on his contract, after a disappointing season on the pitch which included a drink driving charge. Once a 20-goal scorer for West Brom, Berahino has scored just five goals in his last 61 club games.

We'll see if the once promising talent can find his game in Belgium.

22.43 BST: While the Premier League and Championship incoming windows are now locked, a few Championship deals are still trickling in.

Championship new boys Chartlon have inked veteran midfielder Beram Kayal on a season-long loan from Premier League side Brighton. The Israel international and former Celtic man, 32, made 18 Premier League appearances last season for the Seagulls and should provide a veteran presence for Charlton.

22.23 BST: Staying in MLS for a moment...

LAFC have become one of if not the 'buzz club' in MLS and the Supporters' Shield favourites' appeal seems to be spreading to South America. Having already signed Colombian Eddie Segura from Atletico Huila and yesterday Argentine winger Brian Hernandez from Penarol, The Black and Gold are after another South American target.

Bob Bradley's club are interested in signing Ecuadorian left-back Diego Palacios and could steal the 20-year-old away from Barcelona, according to ESPN FC sources. Palacios shone for Ecuador in the Under-20 World Cup in the team's run to the semi-final and impressed Barcelona scouts last season at Willem II in the Netherlands, where he was on loan from Ecuadorian parent club Aucas.

But with Palacios close to signing for Barcelona and set to be part of the Barcelona 'B' squad this upcoming season, it appears that LAFC has come into the race late for the Guayaquil native, according to sources.

Sources both sides of the Atlantic confirmed that LAFC is Palacios' likely destination, but it remains to be seen how the deal will be finalized with the MLS summer transfer window officially closed.

22.00 BST: Shifting back to MLS for a moment while we wait for the late deadline deals in England to filter in... Seattle have announced they completed a pair of deals late Wednesday night to strengthen their side for a MLS Cup run.

The club have brought in Argentine winger Emanuel Cecchini, 22, on loan from Malaga and striker and MLS veteran Luis Silva, 30, from Finnish side Honka.

The Sounders currently sit fourth in the Western Conference on 38 points.

21.17 BST: Finally! Alex Iwobi is an Everton player. The 23-year-old Nigeria international moves from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee on a five-year deal.

"Alex was one of our main targets for this window and I believe he is a fantastic signing for Everton," said manager Marco Silva. "He is a direct and skilful winger and attacking midfielder who always works very hard for his team."

20.50 BST: We keep going...

Blackburn have signed defender Greg Cunningham on a season-long loan from Cardiff City.

The Galway man -- Hon Galway! -- made seven appearances for Neil Warnock and Cardiff last season in the Premier League and has a wealth of experience in England having previously played for Manchester City, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, Preston North End and Cardiff.

20.32 BST: Wolves have gotten one over the line late, signing youngster Meritan Shabani from Bayern Munich on a three-year contract.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is a product of the famed Bayern Academy, having joined the club aged seven. Shabani, who made two first-team appearances with Bayern last season, will start out with the U23.

20.14 BST: Fulham are hoping their stay in the Championship is a short one and have added a prolific forward to bolster their attack.

The Cottagers have announced they have signed Bobby Reid on loan from Championship rivals Cardiff City. The speedy Reid scored five Premier League goals last season for the Bluebirds but amassed 19 the year prior with Bristol City in England's second tier.

The move also reunites Reid with friend and former Bristol City teammate Joe Bryan. I mean just look at this picture Bryan posted on twitter!

Fulham also announced they have signed another Reed -- different spelling -- on loan in midfielder Harrison Reed from Southampton.

20.05 BST: Finally! Three hours after the English transfer window officially shut, Arsenal have announced they have signed centre-back David Luiz from London rivals Chelsea.

The 32-year-old Brazilian tried to force a move in the final days of the window and ultimately got his wish, as he joins Arsenal for a reported £8 million. Luiz will provide much-needed centre-back cover for the Gunners who recently lost captain Laurent Koscielny to Bordeaux.

One player excited for this move? Matteo Guendouzi, who no doubt looked to Luiz for hair inspiration.

#BemvindoDavid indeed.

19.27 BST: With a bit of a lull at the moment, let's catch up on some notable Championship moves we didn't have time to get to earlier...

Former Arsenal striker Benik Afobe has joined Bristol City on a season-long loan from Stoke.

Stoke have brought in veteran Mark Duffy on loan from Sheffield United on loan.

Reading have brought back Ovie Ejaria on an initial loan with a requirement to buy from Liverpool.

Well-travelled Football League hitman Nakhi Wells has re-joined QPR on loan from Premier League side Burnley after scoring nine goals for Rangers last season.

Hull have signed Northern Ireland international Josh Magennis from Bolton on a two-year contract.

Impressive Championship newcomers Barsnely have signed nine-goal scorer Patrick Schmidt from 2. Bundesliga side FC Heidenheim on a four-year deal

Cardiff have signed former Bristol City captain Marlon Pack on a permanent transfer.

19.20 BST: We are still awaiting news on David Luiz to Arsenal and Alex Iwobi to Everton but we may not be waiting too much longer, according to our Julien Laurens.

Tick tock.

19.04 BST: Leicester City have confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Dennis Praet from Sampdoria.

The 25-year-old came started his senior career with Anderlecht but has spent the last three seasons in Italy with I Blucerchiati.

With a talented young midfield of James Maddison, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans and now Praet, bright days could be ahead for the Foxes.

18.49 BST: Newly-promoted Sheffield United have signed a pair after the deadline in Dutch goalkeeper Michael Verrips Bosnian midfielder Muhamed Bešić

Verrips, 22,  joins on a free transfer after leaving Belgian outfit KV Mechelen this summer, while Besic, 26, joins the Blades on a season-long loan from Everton.

Boss Chris Wilder declared himself 'delighted' to have secured the services of the Bosnia and Herzegovina international:

"I am delighted to get a midfielder through the door,', the manager remarked. "Mo is a proper player. He has great pedigree which includes playing internationally and playing in the Premier League.

"He is an excellent all-round central midfielder. He is someone who can do everything we want a midfielder to do."

Besic, who has been beset by injuries since arriving at Goodison Park in 2014, has 40 caps for his country and has spent the last season and a half on loan at Middlesbrough.

18.34 BST: Chelsea -- as is tradition -- have loaned out some players.

Twenty-two-year-old forward Izzy Brown has joined Luton Town on a season-long loan, while 20-year-old defender Trevor Chalobah has done the same with Huddersfield Town.

18.20 BST: Burnley have made a deadline day signing with midfielder Danny Drinkwater arriving on loan from Chelsea.

One of the heroes from Leicester's storybook title campaign in 2015-16, Drinkwater's £35 million move to Stamford Bridge -- a curious one even at the time -- and has never panned out

The 29-year-old will be 'raring to go' this season, as last season he managed only one appearance for Maurizio Sarri's Blues -- in the the glorified friendly that is Community Shield no less.

17.57 BST: Have a day Tottenham Hotspur!

After completing ZERO deals over the past two transfer windows, Spurs have completed their second major transfer deal of the hour with the signing of Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon.

The versatile 19-year-old is rated as one of England's brightest young talents and has the ability to play as a full-back, midfielder or even as a winger. Fulham will recoup a reported £25 million plus young midfielder Josh Onomah in the deal.

Sessegnon scored 15 goals playing primarily as a winger as Fulham won promotion in 2017-18 and last season played 35 times in the Premier League across a multitude of positions. The youngster became the first player born in the 2000s to score in the Premier League when he scored last season vs. Cardiff and is Tottenham's fourth signing of the summer following Jack Clarke, Tanguy Ndombele and Gio Lo Celso.

17.41 BST: Catching up on a few Championship deals at The Hawthorns.

West Brom have announced a pair of attacking signings from Portugal after earlier announcing the arrival of Charlie Austin from Southampton. The Baggies have signed ex-Arsenal youngster Chris Willock, 21 on loan from Benfica and winger Matheus Pereira, 23, on loan with an option to buy, from Sporting Lisbon.

Busy day at The Hawthorns as Slaven Bilic has brought in four players so far on deadline day. Full story.

17.30 BST: And there is another one of the major expected deals done.

As expected, Spurs have announced they have signed central midfielder Giovani Lo Celso on a season-long loan from Real Betis.

The 23-year-old Argentine scored 16 goals and added six assists last season while on loan at Betis from PSG and becomes Spurs' third signing of the summer. The Argentina international has an admirer in Mauricio Pochettino and if Spurs want to make the deal permanent after the season, Lo Celso will cost a reported £55 million.

Now did Spurs have the paperwork for a Ryan Sessegnon deal submitted in time to the Premier League?

17.19 BST: The Mirror writes that Everton are set to seal a post-deadline £35 million move for Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi.

Everton were in search of a winger -- failing to land first-choice target Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace -- and have reportedly moved for the Nigeria international as a Plan B. Iwobi, 23, is the nephew of Nigeria great Jay-Jay Okocha and had become surplus to requirements at the Emirates following Nicolas Pepe's arrival from Lille.

17.10 BST: Danny Rose looks set to stay at Tottenham, a source told ESPN.

It is understood Watford tabled a bid for Rose -- believed to be in the region of £12 million -- but Tottenham turned it down and Rose has set sights on nailing down the first-choice left back spot at Tottenham.

17.03 BST: And there is one of the major deals we were waiting on...

Arsenal have announced they have signed Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney for a reported £25 million. The 22-year-old Scotland international has been a sure-fire starter for the Hoops for the past few seasons and leaves Celtic after 15 years at the club.

Now can Arsenal get a centre-back, let's say David Luiz, over the line? The clock is ticking...

16.51 BST: Newcastle have brought a familiar face home in signing striker Andy Carroll.

Carroll, 30, played for the club between 2006-2011, scoring 33 goals and adding 21 assists. The big man, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, was let go by West Ham this summer and will back up new record signing Joelinton up top for the Magpies.

16.34 BST: Leeds have their new striker, having signed youngster Eddie Nketiah on loan from Arsenal.

The England Under-21 international, 20, has scored three goals in 19 appearances for Arsenal and replaces Kemar Roofe who recently moved to Anderlecht.

16.22 BST: After weeks of speculation, the LA Galaxy have got their man: Cristian Pavon.

The MLS club have announced they have signed the 23-year-old winger from Boca Juniors on an initial loan through the end of the season with an option to buy. The Argentine talent has scored 30 goals and added 32 assists in 109 total games for Boca and has made 11 appearances for the Argentina national side.

16.16 BST: That move for Sessegnon has got Danny Rose worried, but Tottenham need strength in depth so reportedly won't let him join Watford, even though the London club have made a bid.

16.11 BST: Tottenham have completed the signing of Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham, sources have told ESPN FC.

The player has penned a five-year deal for a fee of £25m, with a one-year option to be triggered by Spurs and £5m potential bonuses on top.

16.07 BST: Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says Wilfried Zaha isn't going anywhere.

16.00 BST: ONE HOUR TO GO...

Shouldn't be long before all the deals are done. But a reminder that European clubs still have until Monday, Sept. 2 to get theirs completed.

15.49 BST: The one we've been waiting for. Manchester United have finally sold striker Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan for a fee of around €80m, but they've also opted NOT to sign a replacement.

Lukaku will join up with new Inter coach Antonio Conte in Serie A, with his mum wishing him good luck in a video clip (via OTRO), but United will be left with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and young Mason Greenwood as their main options up front, with Alexis Sanchez also able to be used there, this season.

United were tracking Juventus' Paulo Dybala before that deal fell through and then showed late interest in another player from the Italian club, Mario Mandzukic, but the asking price and wage demands of the Croatian striker put paid to that.

Sources told ESPN earlier this month that the 17-year-old Greenwood could make the step up to replace Lukaku, despite his lack of experience. And that's the situation they are in now. United fans may not be too happy, but at least they have spent almost a combined over £150m on winger Daniel James and defenders Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

15.46 BST: Brighton have signed Australia midfielder Aaron Mooy from Huddersfield on a season-long loan.

15.23 BST: It's all happening now. Watford have confirmed the signing of Ismaïla Sarr from French club Stade Rennais for a club-record fee.

Watford are one of the teams outside of the top six people are getting excited about. and now they have a new winger in the Senegal international.

The 21-year-old winger becomes Watford's record signing -- sources tell ESPN FC the price could rise to £35 million with bonuses -- and has signed a five-year contract with the Vicarage Road club.

15.22 BST: West Brom have signed Charlie Austin from Southampton on a two-year deal.

15.18 BST: Bild reports that Manchester City forward Leroy Sane has suffered an ACL injury in his right knee and will undergo surgery. Not only is that a blow for the club, it's also a blow for his hopes of a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

15.05 BST: A reminder that the MLS window closed yesterday. One that slipped through the net was that FC Cincinnati have signed Derrick Etienne Jr. on loan from New York Red Bulls.

15.00 BST: TWO HOURS TO GO!

And Manchester City aren't done yet, they are ready to make an £11m move for Spain U21 defender Pedro Porro, says the Mirror, which should be easy as he plays for their sister-club Girona.

Porro, 19, had been linked to Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich a few years ago, but now it's only Watford and Sevilla providing City with competition. Still, they've seen that off and the player will join Rayo Vallecano on loan once he arrives.

14.40 BST: UPDATE: (See 12.12) Tottenham have sent U.S. international defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan to Stoke.

14.38 BST: Wilfried Zaha is unhappy. We know this. But if Crystal Palace do decide to sell him for around £80m to Everton, then they are lining up a €16m move for RB Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin, according to Sky Germany.

14.24 BST: West Ham United have sent Grady Diangana to Championship side West Bromwich Albion on loan.

14.14 BST: Newcastle are interested in a move for Man United defender Phil Jones, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of £80m centre-back Harry Maguire and Newcastle are considering a loan offer for Jones if they can offload Ciaran Clark.

14.00 BST: MUST READ: Toe Poke Daily: When transfer unveilings get out of control.

Magicians, rubber lion masks and staged kidnappings have all been used to unveil new signings in recent years. Where will it end?

13.51 BST: Chelsea are letting players go all over the place, midfielder Danny Drinkwater is on his way to Burnley on a season-long loan, says the BBC.

We have to assume that means Mason Mount will be getting some gametime in the Blues' midfield under Frank Lampard, otherwise they surely wouldn't let the 29-year-old depart. By the way, remember when they signing him from Leicester for £35m? That went well, didn't it?

13.29 BST: We mentioned that it wasn't a bumper day for Wolves so far, but we were wrong.

Sky Sports reports that both Reading forward Danny Loader and Bayern Munich midfielder Meritan Shabani are having medicals at the club. Both would be set to join the U23 setup, though, so it's not a major piece of business.

13.13 BST: Manchester United have cooled their interest in Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, sources have told ESPN FC. United are backing away from a deal because of Juventus' asking price and the Croatian's wage demands.

Romelu Lukaku is on the verge of a £72m move to Inter Milan and Mandzukic has been discussed as a possible replacement. But an agreement for the 33-year-old is looking increasingly unlikely and sources said that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is comfortable if another forward does not arrive before the transfer deadline.

13.05 BST: Liverpool fans, you can probably pop off and get yourselves a cup of tea.

12.59 BST: Bruno Fernandes looks set to stay at Sporting Lisbon for the time being after discussions with interested Premier League clubs broke down, sources have told ESPN FC.

Fernandes was linked with a move in this transfer window with Sporting wanting a fee in the region of €70m. But amid interest from Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, it is understood a move to the Premier League is now off the table for the time being with clubs unwilling to meet Sporting's asking price.

12.53 BST: Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha reportedly handed in a transfer request yesterday in a bid to get a move to Everton. But now he's not trained with the club, say Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old is pretty angry that Palace rejected a £70m-plus-two-players bid from the Toffees. But it looks like he won't be moving this summer.

12.40 BST: Don't forget to make your own transfers as you pick your team for our Premier League fantasy game! Take on your mates in head-to-head leagues, selecting a team each weekend to maximise points. Here's how to play the game, and click through to sign up.

12.24 BST: Wolves are a club we've not heard too much from today, but Sport Italia reports they want to sign £26m-rated AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie before the window shuts.

Kessie, 22, only recently joined Milan permanently after a loan spell from Atalanta but could move on after being deemed surplus to requirements.

12.12 BST: Stoke are set to sign Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan, says the Telegraph.

The 21-year-old U.S. international was on loan at Swansea last season.

11.55 BST: Another deal that looks like it won't happen is Sporting CP's Bruno Fernandes to either Tottenham or Man United.

Sport Witness says he's training as normal in Portugal, which he wouldn't be if a transfer was imminent. Tottenham have clearly moved for Lo Celso instead, while Man United look like they will keep hold of Paul Pogba and don't need a replacement.

11.45 BST: More info on Tottenham's potential signing of Argentina international Giovani Lo Celso: The club have agreed a fee of £65m with Spanish club Real Betis, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 25-year-old midfielder, one of Mauricio Pochettino's priorities this summer, is in London and is expected to pass a medical on Thursday morning before signing a five-year contract.

PSG will receive £6m from the transfer fee after agreeing a clause with Betis when they sold Lo Celso last summer for £18m.

11.35 BST: Brighton have completed the signing of French right-back Romaric Yapi from PSG.

11.32 BST: Andy Carroll was released by West Ham this summer after an injury-hit season, but the Sun reports he's set to return to Newcastle.

Carroll, 30, left Newcastle for a £35m move to Liverpool in 2011. But that didn't work out. In fact, it made the No. 3 slot of our worst Transfer Deadline Day deals ever.

11.23 BST: More on why Juventus forward Paulo Dybala's proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is off: The player and his representatives failed to agree terms with the Premier League club, sources have told ESPN FC.

The London club agreed a fee of £60m with Juventus for the transfer of the Argentina international but agreeing personal terms with the player and his agents complicated the move, due mostly to an image rights issue.

11.07 BST: Newcastle have signed Swedish defender Emil Krafth from Ligue 1 side Amiens.

"We're pleased to bring him here," Newcastle United's head coach Steve Bruce told the club website. "He turned 25 last week and has great experience, with more than 20 caps for Sweden and having played in the top flight in three different countries.

"He's a good height for a full-back, speaks excellent English and is a very good player. He's a really good acquisition."

10.55 BST: The BBC's David Ornstein still manages to make Arsenal fans happy even when he has news about Tottenham. One big move today looks like it's not going to happen.

10.52 BST: Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah is set to move out on loan today, with Leeds United leading the race for him according to Sky Sports.

10.45 BST: L'Equipe reports that PSG's Romaric Yapi will sign his first professional contract with Brighton.

Yapi, 19, will likely join their U23 team but it's not every day you get a player moving from PSG to Brighton.

10.27 BST: He was being tracked by Man United at one point but Dutch newspaper AD reports that Watford tried to sign Steven Bergwijn from PSV.

The 21-year-old Netherlands international impressed last season, meaning PSV wanted €40m for him. And that was too much for Watford.

10.14 BST: Arsenal fans can get excited. The club have agreed deals with Chelsea for Brazilian centre-back David Luiz and Celtic for Scottish left-back Kieran Tierney, sources have told ESPN FC.

Both players are expected to be at Arsenal's training ground in London Colney on Thursday to pass their medicals and sign their contracts.

Luiz will sign a two-year deal and will cost £8m, while Tierney will put pen to paper on a five-year contract. Celtic will receive £25m, which will be spread over the length of the deal.

Arsenal were actively looking for a centre-back following the departure of Laurent Koscielny, who left to join Bordeaux earlier in the transfer window, and looked at various options before the possibility of signing Luiz became available. Raul Sanllehi, who is in charge of transfers at the club, concluded the deal with Chelsea after Luiz had fallen out with manager Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge and refused to train with the first team on Wednesday.

Tierney, 22, has been a target for Arsenal all summer and the club were successful in their third bid for the player. Manager Unai Emery is a big fan of Tierney, who can also play as a left-sided centre-back, which was important for Emery.

10.09 BST: Ajax star David Neres was being linked with a move to Manchester United, but there were a few other clubs interested too. A moot point now he's signed a new contract.

10.04 BST: Southampton fans have something to be happy about as Nathan Redmond has committed to a new four-year deal.

09.50 BST: John McGinn was the man that former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to move to Old Trafford for £50m this summer. But he's signed a new deal with Aston Villa.

09.44 BST: Tottenham are closing on three deals today. Paulo Dybala could be set to arrive for €70m, Ryan Sessegnon for £25m, while Giovani Lo Celso looks a bit further along as the Telegraph is reporting that the midfielder is having a medical. He could cost around €70m.

09.37 BST: Borussia Dortmund defender Omer Toprak is set to join Werder Bremen, according to reports from Deichstube in Germany.

The 30-year-old wants more playing time and is prepared to see his salary halved from €5m per year.

Dortmund could receive a €5m transfer fee in return and get another player off their payroll. Felix Passlack, Alexander Isak, Abdou Diallo, Sebastian Rode, Jeremy Toljan and Andre Schurrle have already left Dortmund this summer, while Shinji Kagawa and Maximilian Philipp are also on their way out.

09.24 BST: Shock late move for Manchester City here in the goalkeeping department. Former England goalkeeper Scott Carson is set to join on a season-long loan from Derby, says the BBC.

Ederson is the undisputed No. 1 with Claudio Bravo his backup. But the 33-year-old former Leeds, Liverpool, and West Brom stopper will be third-choice.

09.05 BST: West Ham have signed Switzerland international striker Albian Ajeti from FC Basel on a four-year deal.

09.03 BST: Swiss outlet Blick claims AS Monaco are interested in Xherdan Shaqiri and Liverpool would want €36m for the midfielder.

Shaqiri has been a great backup for the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, but the Switzerland international wants to play a more important role.

08.57 BST: Southampton striker Charlie Austin has been pushed down the pecking order after the arrival of Che Adams, so West Brom and Bristol City are trying to land him on loan, according to Sky Sports.

08.42 BST: Everton are exploring the possibility of signing Marcus Rojo from Manchester United after being knocked back in their approach for Chris Smalling, with a source telling ESPN FC a deal is "unlikely as it stands, but you never know."

08.28 BST: Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet will join Leicester for a fee in the region of £12-14m, a source has told ESPN.

Leicester have plenty of money to spend after selling Harry Maguire to Man United but there's no sign of a replacement centre-back just yet.

08.23 BST: Australia midfielder Aaron Mooy is set to join Brighton on loan from Huddersfield, a source has told ESPN.

Huddersfield were relegated from the top-flight last season and Mooy was one of their star players, so it makes sense that a Premier League club are interested. We're just surprised that they are letting him depart on loan.

08.15 BST: And more from the BBC, as they report that Juventus forward Paulo Dybala is close to a move to Tottenham for €70m.

08.00 BST: Arsenal are on the verge of signing Chelsea's David Luiz, says the BBC.

Even though Chelsea are in the middle of a transfer embargo and can't sign a replacement, the two clubs have agreed a fee of £8m which will see Luiz sign a two-year deal to reunite with Unai Emery -- his former manager at PSG.

07.46 BST: Bayern Munich's hopes of signing Manchester City's Leroy Sane may have been ended by injury, according to reports in Germany and the UK.

Sane has been a target for Bundesliga champions Bayern all summer, although City's asking price of £135m has been prohibitive.

Even so, a deal still appeared possible as both clubs would not totally break off contact, but the 23-year-old Germany international suffered a knee injury in Sunday's Community Shield against Liverpool at Wembley.

According to German daily Bild and British paper the Daily Mail, the injury could be worse than initially feared amid concerns that Sane may have suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage.

That would rule him out for much of this season, and scupper any potential transfer for a year.

07.00 BST: Celtic and Arsenal have agreed a Scottish transfer record fee of £25 million for Scotland left-back Kieran Tierney, the BBC reports.

The player is set to travel south ahead of Thursday's Premier League transfer window deadline to complete the deal.

06.47 BST: What the latest on Neymar? Well, he's still at Paris Saint-Germain. BUT, there have been reports that Real Madrid could use Luka Modric as a makweight in a deal to lure the Brazil star to Spain.

06.02 BST: Leeds United full-back Tom Pearce is booked to have a medical at Wigan on Thursday morning, that's according to Phil Hay at the Athletic.

05.56 BST: More on Brian Rodriguez's move from Penarol to MLS pace-setters LAFC. Reports had put Rodriguez's transfer fee at $11.5m, but a source with knowledge of the deal has told ESPN FC that the transfer fee was "closer to $8m."

05.37 BST: Philippe Coutinho's chances of returning to the Premier League this transfer window appear slim. Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde confirmed as much late on Wednesday night in the U.S., telling reporters: "Of course I am counting on him. We don't know what's going to happen, but he's with us."

05.23 BST: BBC's David Ornstein says that Ryan Sessegnon's move to Tottenham is a done deal. Spurs will reportedly pay £25m plus Josh Onomah to land the Fulham starlet.

03.49 BST: Speaking of Lukaku, Fabrizio Romano has posted a video of the striker arriving in Italy. It's fair to say that the Inter fans are pleased to see him...

PAPER ROUND (By James Capps)

Mandzukic to Man United?

Manchester United will need a striker once Romelu Lukaku's move to Inter Milan has gone through, and Sky Italia reports that they have set their sights on Mario Mandzukic.

Mandzukic, 33, isn't one for the future but he's a quality player with plenty of experience that would allow Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood to develop. In fact, sources have told ESPN that United may not even make a move for anyone as they trust 19-year-old Greenwood to fill in.

United have already spent £80m on Harry Maguire and £50m on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Mandzukic is a cheaper option than Athletic Bilbao's Inaki Williams who would cost £81m. The Sun reports that Williams is an option though.

PSG keen on Milan's Donnarumma

Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports at Calciomercato.

After the permanent departure of Kevin Trapp to Eintracht Frankfurt, Paris sporting director Leonardo is back in the market for a new shot-stopper, with the Brazilian said to be unconvinced by his most senior keeper, Alphonse Areola.

In fact, the Italian publication claims PSG offered Areola as a makeweight in a player-plus-cash deal for Donnarumma, but that offer was rejected by the Rossoneri.

There are several other obstacles in the French giants' way, with the youngster believed to be reluctant to make the move, while senior members of the Milan board are also said to be strongly opposed to another sale of an academy product, following Patrick Cutrone's move to Wolves.

Atletico look to land Eriksen

Christian Eriksen's move to Real Madrid doesn't look like it's going to happen as the club want Paul Pogba instead.

Meanwhile, the fact he's fluttering his eyelashes at Spain means Man United have opted out of a deal.

However, he could still get his dream move to La Liga in the form of Atletico Madrid. They've been splashing plenty of money about this summer and the Independent reports that they could move for him before the window shuts on Sept. 2.

One caveat though: they actually want James Rodriguez as their first-choice playmaker. But if they can't get him then Eriksen is 'plan B'. Poor old Christian.
