TOP STORY: Spurs jump United in move for Dybala

Spurs fans will be salivating at the prospect of their club making two major signings. First up is news of a possible move for Paulo Dybala, who reportedly already turned down Manchester United, with the Argentine expressing an interest in joining the north London club. These rumours come courtesy of Sky Sports Italia, which suggests a deal for between £62m-£65m has already been agreed between the two clubs, with just the player to agree.

Juve have made it clear that Dybala has no future in Turin, which is why he is now more open to a move to England. Mauricio Pochettino is also rumoured to have called compatriot Dybala personally over the weekend in an effort to help get the deal over the line.

Next up for Pochettino was a loan move for Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho in a deal that would see the duo reunited for the first time since they worked together at Espanyol. This comes on the heels of news which ESPN confirmed that Arsenal had no interest in the Brazilian. But reports suggest that 27-year-old has turned down the chance to move to London.

However, Pochettino is still keen to add to his midfield to further enhance his new-look side following the signings of Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke and has reportedly made a new offer of €60m for Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso.

LIVE BLOG

22.55 BST: We'll close Wednesday's live edition of Transfer Talk with some news from Italy. Calciomercato reports that Fiorentina aren't entirely convinced by Giovanni Simeone, and that they've identified Roma's Patrik Schick as a potential replacement, with the player keen on a move and Roma open to a loan deal.

22.38 BST: Everton are preparing to make a loan move for Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori after the 21-year-old's impressive stint at Derby last season, the Sun writes, and adds that the Toffees are also considering an offer for Bournemouth's Nathan Ake, who's been valued at £75m.

22.21 BST: Tottenham are closing in on a £25m deal for Fulham prodigy Ryan Sessegnon, according to the Mirror.

22.04 BST: Everton have confirmed the signing of Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

21.47 BST: All has gone quiet regarding Napoli's pursuit of James Rodriguez, with the midfielder preferring to remain in Madrid and thus only accepting a move from Real to Atletico, but a source tells ESPN FC that Partenopei boss Carlo Ancelotti still wants his club to keep pushing for the player he coached at both Madrid and Bayern, and there is still hope that the move can be done.

21.30 BST: Juventus have signed right-back Danilo from Manchester City. Read the full story.

21.13 BST: Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol has reported that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Celtic for left-back Kieran Tierney, with the Scotland international traveling from Glasgow to London tonight to sign for the Gunners ahead of the close of the Premier League transfer window tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. local.

20.56 BST: Juventus defender Joao Cancelo has signed for Premier League champions Manchester City for £27.6m. Read the full story.

20.39 BST: Spanish television program El Chiringuito has claimed that Manchester United are willing to trigger the €88m release clause of Athletic Bilbao's 25-year-old Spain international forward Inaki Williams.

20.22 BST: U.S. U20 international and Hannover 96 defender Chris Gloster has agreed to terms on a transfer to Eredivisie powerhouse PSV Eindhoven, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

19.59 BST: Real Madrid have firmly moved into the race for Neymar's signature, with Sport reporting that Los Blancos have submitted an offer of €120m plus Luka Modric to Paris Saint-Germain. A source told ESPN FC that Modric missed Madrid's preseason friendly at Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday because of an injury, not as he was set to leave the club.

19.36 BST: David Luiz refused to train with Chelsea's first team on Wednesday in hopes of forcing a move out of Stamford Bridge, sources have told ESPN FC. The Brazilian has fallen out with Frank Lampard in recent days, and Luiz is clearly behind Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen in the pecking order of the new manager.

19.13 BST: Tottenham have agreed a €60m deal with Real Betis to sign Giovani Lo Celso, according to Goal, with the La Liga club prepared to announce the midfielder's departure tonight.

18.50 BST: While there is plenty of buzz surrounding Arsenal's reported pursuit of Chelsea centre-back David Luiz, the Sun reports that the Gunners haven't given up on signing Barcelona's Samuel Umtiti.

18.23 BST: Romelu Lukaku is nearing a move away from Manchester United after Inter Milan submitted a fresh bid totalling nearly £75m, sources have told ESPN FC.

17.56 BST: Now that Wilfried Zaha has reportedly handed Crystal Palace a transfer request, the Mirror writes that Everton are set to test the South London club's resolve by offering £80m in cash, after having their previous offer of £70m plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy rejected.

17.29 BST: There is, however, a problem with the update below: Tottenham's discussions to bring Philippe Coutinho to North London have broken down, the Independent writes. That's restarted Spurs' interest in Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, and it also jeopardises Barcelona's hopes of offloading the Brazilian to make way for Neymar's return to the Camp Nou.

17.02 BST: Barcelona would like to bring Neymar back to the Camp Nou on loan with an obligation to buy, and it's a situation that Paris Saint-Germain would be open to, according to Goal. But before the Catalan club can complete the €30m loan, they'll need to find a home for Philippe Coutinho on loan, and the list of clubs financially able to take on the Brazilian reportedly consists of just one: Tottenham.

16.35 BST: Tottenham are in the midst of a transfer furore but could right-back Serge Aurier be heading back to PSG? The Sun says so. However, the club would be mad to let another full-back depart without signing a replacement, so we'll have to see where that goes.

16.15 BST: Former Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic has joined MLS side Montreal Impact on a free transfer, signing a contract which will keep him there until December 2020, sources have told ESPN FC.

16.07 BST: Well this one could break the internet if it happens. Arsenal need a new centre-back and L'Equipe reports that their top target is now Chelsea's David Luiz.

Moreover, not only are Arsenal keen but they have actually made him an offer. And Luiz is "pushing for an exit."

That all sounds fine until you remember L'Equipe broke news of Arsenal being ready to land Philippe Coutinho yesterday, before it was confirmed as nonsense.

15.45 BST: Wilfried Zaha has reportedly handed in transfer request at Crystal Palace in bid to push through an exit.

The 26-year-old almost signed for Arsenal before they landed Nicholas Pepe, while Everton have also tried to land him with a £70m bid plus two players.

15.39 BST: Watford have a new striker.

15.28 BST: West Ham have offered €25m for Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca, with a couple of other Premier League clubs also interested, sources have told ESPN FC.

Earlier in the summer, Bayern Munich reportedly offered €18m for Roca, but Espanyol have so far refused to accept anything less than his €40m release clause.

The 22-year-old played as holding midfielder in the Spain side which won the Under-21 European Championships this summer, stepping in when new Manchester City signing Rodri decided to skip the tournament.

15.15 BST: A source has told ESPN that Crystal Palace have made a second bid for CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov believed to be in the region of €25m after their first offer of €15m was turned down. Chalov, 21, scored 17 in 37 games for CSKA last season and Palace have a £50m hole burning their pocket after the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Man United.

15.07 BST: POGBA TO MADRID ...

Yes, that's news that Paul Pogba's brother Florentin has been offered to suburban Madrid club Fuenlabrada.

"It's true that we have been offered Florentin Pogba," Fuenlabrada sporting director Miguel Melgar told a news conference on Wednesday. "First we have to see if he is the type of player we want for that position. He has shown before his level, but we have to look far beyond whether he is [Paul] Pogba's brother. I've not decided yet."

Fuenlabrada will take part in the 2019-20 Segunda Division, having gained promotion last term, and may choose to take on the 28-year-old centre-back and Guinea international, who is currently on Atlanta United's books having joined the MLS side from Turkish club Genclerbirligi last February.

Another brother of the Manchester United player, Matias Pogba, joined semi-pro fourth tier Spanish side CD Manchego last week and the movement of Paul's family members to Spain has been taken as a sign that the French World Cup winner will be joining Real Madrid imminently.

15.02 BST: Liverpool U23s defender George Johnston has left the club for Feyenoord on a permanent deal, with the European champions receiving £300,000. A 30% sell-on clause has also been inserted into the deal.

Johnston, 20, had one year remaining on his contract with the Reds and Dirk Kuyt, a legend at both clubs, called Liverpool for a recommendation on the centre-back, who can also feature at full-back.

14.52 BST: Bojan Krkic has left Stoke City but will sign for MLS side the Montreal Impact if his trip to the city goes well.

Sources have told ESPN FC that the 28-year-old former Barcelona star has travelled to Montreal and will visit the club and its training ground before making a final decision on his future.

14.40 BST: German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp has joined Eintracht Frankfurt from PSG on a five-year contract.

14.26 BST: The latest on Philippe Coutinho's future with Barcelona from our correspondent.

14.05 BST: The Daily Telegraph is reporting that "progress has been made between Inter Milan and Manchester United over Romelu Lukaku."

Lukaku is desperately trying to secure an exit from United as talks continue with Inter, sources have told ESPN FC.

Surely we are not far from news that Inter have raised their €60m offer and the striker has agreed to move to Italy to join up with Antonio Conte. Will United sign a replacement? Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic remains an option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if Lukaku leaves before Thursday's transfer deadline. Or, as sources told ESPN, will young Mason Greenwood get a shot this season?

14.01 BST: Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater isn't going to get much of a chance to play this season it seems, and Burnley are looking to take advantage by trying to snap him up on loan, says Sky Sports.

13.47 BST: Liverpool defender Nat Phillips, 22, has signed a new contract with the club and has joined Stuttgart on a season-long loan.

The centre-back, who previously came through the youth ranks at Bolton Wanderers, impressed Jurgen Klopp last preseason but an ankle injury denied him the chance to kick on with the Reds. He will be targeting regular games in Germany's second division.

13.38 BST: Real Madrid will switch their attention to signing Neymar if they can't complete a move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba by the end of the Premier League transfer window, a source has told ESPN FC.

A separate source added that Paris Saint-Germain would be open to an approach from Madrid, and are willing to sell Neymar to anyone. However, there are doubts any club would be willing to match the Ligue 1 champions' valuation for a player they paid €222m for just two years ago.

13.15 BST: Reports out of Brazil from UOL claim that Manchester United have had had a €60m bid for Ajax winger David Neres turned down.

Neres, 22, has been linked to a host of top clubs since Ajax's run to the Champions League semifinals last season, but the report says he could yet stay and sign a new contract.

12.56 BST: Basel and Switzerland striker Albian Ajeti is set to join West Ham, says the BBC.

Ajeti, 22, will cost £8m but that shouldn't phase the Hammers as they have already splashed a club record £45m on former France Under-21 forward Sebastien Haller this summer.

12.31 BST: Just to put a neat little bow on all things Everton ... until the next update ... they have also pulled out of a move for Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure after having a £30m bid rejected.

The club have already spent £82m this summer on Jonas Lossl, Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Moise Kean but stand by for news about the arrival of Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe and Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr later.

12.17 BST: Everton have reportedly made a £30m bid to sign Alex Iwobi from Arsenal, says TalkSPORT. The arrival of Nicolas Pepe might limit Iwobi's gametime at the Emirates, but it's unlikely the Gunners will let the winger go with only 24 hours left in the transfer window.

Meanwhile, sources have told ESPN that the Toffees have had a season-long loan bid for Man United defender Chris Smalling rejected.

Smalling has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of £80m centre-back Harry Maguire from Leicester but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to keep him at Old Trafford.

Smalling is one of seven central defenders in Solskjaer's squad, which also includes Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Axel Tuanzebe. Sources have told ESPN FC that they club are open to offers for Rojo.

12.08 BST: Romelu Lukaku's exit from Manchester United is still a possibility with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that his agent is in London to talk with the club about how much it would take to let him leave for Inter Milan.

Inter have thus far only offered €60m plus add-ons, with United looking to recoup the £75m they spent on him back in 2017.

11.43 BST: Record reports that Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes is having talks with his agent Miguel Pinho and club manager Frederico Varandas.

Tottenham and Manchester United are reported to be ready to spend €60m to sign the 25-year-old, but interestingly Record says he's owed €5m compensation if Sporting refuse any bids over €35m. So perhaps he's just meeting with them to pick up his cheque?

11.12 BST: Manchester United will fine Romelu Lukaku for missing training, sources have told ESPN FC.

The striker trained with Belgian side Anderlecht on Monday and Tuesday as he continues to seek a move away from Old Trafford.

11.05 BST: Carl Jenkinson's Arsenal dream is over.

The 27-year-old full-back has moved to Nottingham Forest on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The lifelong Gunners' supporter just didn't make the breakthrough at the Emirates, even after a number of loan spells, and has moved on to further his career.

10.37 BST: Bild claims that Atletico Madrid are ready to pay €35m for Germany defender Matthias Ginter, but Borussia Monchengladbach coach Marco Rose says the 25-year-old is "fundamental for this team."

Arsenal were once linked with Ginter, and they seem to need a new centre-back pretty quickly, while Tottenham have also been reported as a possible destination.

10.13 BST: The Daily Mail reports that former Arsenal and Man United striker Danny Welbeck is in talks with Watford.

The 28-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent years and was released by the Gunners this summer.

09.53 BST: We might all be getting excited over nothing as far as Manchester United are concerned. Here's the latest on Christian Eriksen.

09.50 BST: Crystal Palace are set to complete the loan signing of 25-year-old Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa today, with the player undergoing a medical according to Sky Sports.

09.41 BST: PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp is set to join German side Eintracht Frankfurt later today for at least €7m and will sign a five-year contract, sources have told ESPN FC.

Trapp leaving opens up a space for PSG to sign a new goalkeeper, so they could revisit their interest in AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma from earlier this summer. A reminder that clubs in Europe have until Sept. 2 to complete their deals.

09.25 BST: Both Manchester City and Manchester United had scouts watching Norwegian prospect Hakon Evjen this week, according to Norwegian broadcaster TV2.

Evjen, 19, scored twice in Bodo/Glimt's 3-1 win over Stromgodset on Monday, and the club tweeted that representatives of the Premier League sides were watching on from the stands.

TV2 reported that the scouts had made the journey to watch, who took his goal tally to six goals in 14 Tippeligaen appearances this season.

09.05 BST: Fabinho's wife has reacted incredulously to rumours circulating on social media that the Liverpool midfielder has agreed a deal to join Real Madrid.

The Brazil international and his wife, Rebecca Tavares, are happy and settled on Merseyside.

Fabinho is a guaranteed starter for Jurgen Klopp and the reported fee of €65m + €10m in add-ons is unlikely to have been signed off by sporting director Michael Edwards, who has a reputation for maximising the club's earnings when selling players. The club has described the rumour to ESPN FC's Melissa Reddy as "absolute nonsense."

08.29 BST: Manchester City full-back Danilo has arrived at Juventus this morning to seal his move to Turin.

The deal is set to see Joao Cancelo move in the opposite direction between the two clubs, although reports suggest that the two transfers will not be officially linked.

Danilo, 28, joined City from Real Madrid in 2017 and went on to win back-to-back Premier League titles in England.

Cancelo, 25, had been linked with a move to England before joining Juve last summer from Valencia. His move could be announced as early as today, according to reports.

08.00 BST: Welcome to Wednesday's Transfer Talk live blog. It's Transfer Deadline Eve and there is plenty going on. Tuesday's top story was Wayne Rooney's move from D.C. United to Derby County and we're going even bigger today. Jason Puncheon has signed for Pafos FC in a move labelled "the greatest transfer" in their history.

Puncheon moves to Cyprus on a two-year deal after leaving Crystal Palace on a free transfer and the 33-year-old is being talked up as "brilliant on both wings."

Ozil could replace Rooney at D.C. United

Arsenal look like they could potentially offload Mesut Ozil, with talks planned between the German's representatives and MLS club D.C. United.

The news follows Wayne Rooney's announced move to Derby County as player-coach and could see Ozil replace Rooney in Washington as the main marquee signing.

Any deal would see Ozil stay at the Emirates until January -- the same month Rooney will join Derby -- before making the switch to the U.S. Ozil would represent another huge signing for United.

Everton close in on Sidibe loan

Everton are on the verge of signing Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe, according to the Mail.

The Mail reports that the 27-year-old defender is arriving at Goodison Park on Wednesday for a medical ahead of a season-long loan. The France international made 26 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, which followed his forming part of the France side that won the World Cup this time last summer.

Sidibe operates at right-back but can play on either side, and Everton boss Marco Silva wants competition for places alongside Seamus Coleman after having offloaded Jonjoe Kenny to Schalke.

Silva remains hopeful of making more additions before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday (see our tap-ins below).

Tap-ins

- You might be tempted to switch off when you hear the names Wilfried Zaha and Everton mentioned together, such has been their on-off deal this summer. And tonight, the Mail reports that Crystal Palace have turned down a £70m cash deal plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy for Zaha from the Toffees. Palace maintain that the winger won't be sold.

- Plenty of action in Sheffield tonight too, with the Mail reporting Wednesday are set to move for Chelsea defender Michael Hector. The news follows Sheffield United's sale of Ched Evans to Fleetwood on a permanent deal earlier in the day. Like Evans, Hector spent last season on loan, making 39 appearances for the Owls. Hector has failed to make an appearance for Chelsea in four years since signing from Reading in 2015, and would welcome regular first-team action.
