Manchester United target Harry Maguire signs new five-year Leicester contract

Leicester City's Harry Maguire has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2023.

The England international defender had been on Manchester United's radar during the summer, but has now put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Foxes. Maguire played all 38 of Leicester's Premier League games last season and was a regular under Gareth Southgate at the World Cup -- starting six of their seven matches.

But, despite United's interest, he stayed at the King Power, and has now signed a new five-year contract.

"Ever since I came to this club, I've always reiterated how good they've been to me.," he told LCFC TV. "They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot.

"I owe them a lot and I'm looking forward to the future."

Maguire started his career with Sheffield United in 2011, where he stayed for three seasons before joining Hull in 2014. Following a loan spell at Wigan, he soon became a first-team regular and was voted the Fans' and Players' Player of the Season in the 2016-17 season.

That summer, he signed for Leicester following Hull's relegation.
