Dutch winger Quincy Promes has left Spartak Moscow to join Sevilla on a five-year contract, the clubs announced on Friday.

The 26-year-old, who joined Spartak from FC Twente in 2014, helped the side to their first Russian Premier League title in 16 years in 2017. He scored 66 goals in 135 matches during his spell with the club and has previously been linked with transfers to Liverpool and Southampton.

"It's time for a new chapter in my journey," Promes wrote on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, Promes posted a picture in front of a departure board displaying various European destinations, including Madrid and Paris as well as Sevilla.

Promes, who underwent a medical with Sevilla earlier on Friday, has won 28 caps for Netherlands since making his debut in March 2014. The clubs have not disclosed the terms of the deal, which was completed on the last day of the Spanish transfer window.

Sevilla finished seventh in La Liga last season, qualifying for Europa League where they will face FC Krasnodar, Standard Liege and Turkish side Akhisarspor.
