Swansea's Jefferson Montero joins Emelec on sub-loan from Getafe

Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero has joined former club Emelec on a sub-loan from Spanish side Getafe for the remainder of the season.

The Ecuador international moved to Getafe on a season-long loan in the summer but has been limited to just 55 minutes in four substitute appearances.

Swansea permitted Getafe to complete the deal, subject to international clearance, though Montero will remain on Getafe's books, according to a statement from Swansea.

The 28-year-old began his professional career at Emelec in 2007. The defending Ecuadoran Serie A champions, Emelec have two wins from their opening two games.

Tied to Swansea until June 2020, Montero, who has scored twice in 72 games since his arrival from Liga MX side Morelia in 2014, was keen to leave Getafe in search of regular first-team football.
