Mohammed Saeid leaves MLS to sign with Danish club

Midfielder Mohammed Saeid has left Major League Soccer after three seasons to sign with Danish side Lyngby Boldklub.

The 27-year-old started 27 games for the Colorado Rapids in 2017 after an early-season trade from Minnesota United.

He wrote on Twitter: "Happy to have signed with Lyngby Boldklub i hope to contribute in many ways for the team and its fans. Thank you for believing in me."

The Rapids had declined the 2018 option on Saeid's contract last month but still wished him the "best of luck" on Twitter.

A product of West Brom's academy in England, Saeid started his professional career in his native Sweden before moving to MLS with Columbus Crew SC, where he started 72 games over two seasons.

"I would also like to thank Colorado Rapids, Columbus Crew SC, Minnesota United and MLS for the opportunity to play in the U.S.," Saeid wrote. "A growing sport and it's just going to get bigger. Thank you all and good luck."

Saeid signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Lyngby Boldklub and will join his new team in January.
