Gambian winger Modou Barrow joins Reading

Reading have completed the signing of Swansea City's Modou Barrow, signing the Gambian wideman on a four-year deal.

Barrow joined Swansea from Ostersunds FK in 2014, but struggled to establish himself at the Liberty Stadium and moves to Reading for an undisclosed fee, according to the Royals' official website.

Bizarrely, the Berkshire club opted to unveil Barrow with a video which included a wheelbarrow unloading a heap of Carabao cans onto the side of the Madejski Stadium pitch.

Barrow made 51 league appearances with the Swans over the last three years, but also spent three loan spells away from the club - at Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United.

"I'm very pleased to welcome Mo to Reading Football Club and I'm delighted that we have been able to add another player to our squad ahead of the start of the new season," manager Jaap Stam told the club's official website.

"Now all our focus is on the challenge that lies ahead on Saturday and our trip to QPR."

The versatile winger can play on either flank, and as a centre-forward, and will be charged with helping Reading overcome their playoff final disappointment last season.

Should Barrow get international clearance, he could feature for Stam's side when they kick off their Championship campaign away at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

"We identified Mo as a player with real ability as well as the potential to flourish and improve even further as a member of this Reading squad," Reading Director of Football Brian Tevreden added.

"He is a bright and exciting talent and we have every faith that he can make a big contribution at Reading Football Club."
