Former Arsenal midfielder Denilson is set to cancel his contract at Al Wahda to become a free agent, the player's agent has told ESPN FC.
Denilson is in the final year of his contract at Al Wahda after joining the Abu Dhabi club from Sao Paulo in 2015.
The 29-year-old made 23 appearances in his first season with Al Wahda before being sent on loan to his native Brazil with Cruzeiro.
However, Denilson made only two appearances for Cruzeiro before seeing his loan deal cancelled early and he returned to Al Wahda last January.
Denilson is now looking to quit Al Wahda a year earlier than in his contract so that he can get his career back on track by playing regularly.
The player's agent, Alex Soares, confirmed to ESPN FC on Thursday that the agreement to cancel Denilson's contract was to be signed within the next 48 hours.
Denilson joined Arsenal as a teenager in 2006 from Sao Paulo and spent five seasons in North London, making 153 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.
After initially impressing for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger he struggled to hold down a place in the side and returned to Sao Paulo in 2011 on loan for the whole of the 2011-12 campaign.
The defensive midfielder terminated his contract with Arsenal in the summer of 2013 to join Sao Paulo, but after two years there he moved to the United Arab Emirates to join Al-Wahda.
