Manchester United hand keeper Theo Richardson permanent deal

Manchester United have confirmed they have signed young goalkeeper Theo Richardson.

Richardson, 18, arrived from Leeds on a short-term contract at the end of last season and has been rewarded for his performances in the under-18s with a permanent contract.

He was one of four goalkeepers who travelled to Austria for a joint training camp with the U18s and U23s along with Kieran O'Hara, Max Johnstone and Ilias Moutha-Sebtaoui.

Dean Henderson, 20, has joined League One side Shrewsbury on loan until the end of the season.

Richardson is set to compete with O'Hara and Joel Pereira for a place in Ricky Sbragia's U23s next season.

Pereira is with the first team on the preseason tour of the United States and is set to be Jose Mourinho's third choice next season behind David De Gea and Sergio Romero.

Sam Johnstone will spend next season on loan at Aston Villa.

United have already made three academy signings this summer.

Belgian teenager Largie Ramazani, 16, has arrived from Charlton while French midfielder Aliou Badara Traore, also 16, has joined from Sarcelles after spending time in Paris Saint-Germain's youth system.

Northern Ireland U17 captain Ethan Galbraith has also moved to Old Trafford, while Spanish midfielder Arnau Puigmal is set to move from Espanyol.
