Inter Milan close in on Gabriel 'Gabigol' Barbosa and Joao Mario signings

Gabriel "Gabigol" Barbosa has landed in Milan ahead of a proposed move to Inter Milan from Santos, with Joao Mario's loan move from Sporting Lisbon also close to completion.

Gabigol, 19, starred for Brazil at the Olympic Games this summer and arrived at Milan's Malpensa airport on Friday afternoon on a flight from Sao Paulo.

Upon arrival he was met by representatives of Inter and taken for a medical, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Nerazzurri are reported to have agreed a fee of around €25 million with Santos for the services of the forward, who goes by the name Gabigol.

Inter's Serie A rivals Juventus had also shown an interest in the player, but they have not matched Santos' asking price, despite making the first enquiries.

Gabigol may return to Brazil shortly, however, with the agreement between the two clubs foreseeing that he will only move to Milan in January. Inter are nevertheless working on a deal which will see him join during the current transfer window.

Meanwhile, Inter have confirmed via Twitter that Joao Mario is also on his way to Milan ahead of a move from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese midfielder is understood to have already agreed terms with the Serie A club, who are set to take him on loan for the season with an option for a permanent move.

Inter will face Southampton, Sparta Prague and Hapoel Beer-Sheva in Group K of the Europa League -- a competition they will be keen to win this season as they seek a return to the Champions League next term.

Gabigol scored five goals in 10 league games for Santos this season before the Olympics, where he found the target twice in the hosts' successful campaign.
