Stephan El Shaarawy may replace Luiz Adriano at AC Milan - Adriano Galliani

AC Milan's general manager Adriano Galliani says Stephan El Shaarawy could return to the club if Luiz Adriano's transfer to China goes through, while Alessio Cerci may join Genoa.

Luiz Adriano, a summer recruit from Shakhtar Donetsk, has already flown to China, where he is set to sign a lucrative contract with Jiangsu Suning.

Milan are due to make a sizeable profit on the 28-year-old, who has found the back of the net just three times in 18 Serie A appearances, and they already have a ready-made replacement on their books in El Shaarawy, who is now surplus to requirements at Monaco, where he is on a season-long loan.

"There is an agreement between Milan and the Chinese club for Luiz Adriano and now he just has to pass his medical and obtain a visa," Galliani told RAI television. "If it all goes through, we'll see -- it's possible that El Shaarawy will come back to us.

"The transfer market is open until Feb. 2, so let's see."

That leaves the Rossoneri with enough time to find a replacement not only for Luiz Adriano but also for Cerci, who is currently on loan from Atletico Madrid but may now switch to Serie A rivals Genoa.

"We've completed a loan deal with Genoa for Cerci and now it is just up to one of the parties," Galliani added.

Meanwhile, Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic says selling Luiz Adriano is the right thing to do.

Speaking after his side's 2-1 win over Carpi, which saw Milan into the semifinals of the Coppa Italia, the Serbian coach said his club had "done a good job."

"We bought him for €7 million to €8m and we've sold him for €14m to €15m," he told RAI. "It's true that I've now got one forward less, but when this squad is at full strength, we can challenge to finish third.

"I've got [Mario] Balotelli back now and [Jeremy] Menez will be returning soon."
