Ronaldinho near Brazil return, says Vasco da Gama president

Brazil star Ronaldinho is on the verge of returning to Brazil to join club Vasco da Gama on a six-month contract, following his stint with Liga MX club Queretaro.

"We are working on a project called 'Ronaldinho Gaucho-Vasco,' and we are moving ahead. I would say we are at 90 percent," club president Eurico Miranda told ESPN Brasil about the negotiation. "I can say that I have spoken with the player and he has shown interest and he was satisfied with this possibility for the future. All we have left to do is tie up the project."

Miranda stressed that the project will include a marketing element.

Ronaldinho, who joined Queretaro in September of 2014 and helped the club to the Liga MX playoffs this past season, recently thanked his fans via Twitter, when he announced he would no longer play in Mexico.

The 35-year-old, is now back plying his trade in Latin america following his highly successful decade with European clubs. After joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2001, he signed for Barcelona two years later where he won two La Liga titles, the Champions League and was named FIFA World Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons.

After three seasons at AC Milan, he returned to his native Brazil in 2011 for spells at Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro before his recent stint in Mexico with Queretaro.
