Borussia Dortmund sign Julian Weigl from 1860 Munich for undisclosed fee

Borussia Dortmund have signed teenager Julian Weigl from 2. Bundesliga side 1860 Munich for an undisclosed fee.

Weigl, 19, currently at the U-20 World Cup with Germany, has penned a four-year deal with DFB Pokal finalists Dortmund.

"Julian Weigl is a future prospect for central midfield who we really believe has the potential to develop," BVB sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official website.

1860 Munich's sporting director Gerhard Poschner told his club's official website: "We thank Ju for his efforts at [1860] and wish him every success and all the best for his new position at BVB."

Weigl made 38 appearances for 1860 Munich last season and is Dortmund's second signing in the close season, with the club also bringing in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Gonzalo Castro.

BVB striker Ciro Immobile has admitted that he is open to a return to Italy following a disappointing debut season at the Westfalenstadion, while Ilkay Gundogan looks certain to exit the club this summer after refusing a contract extension with his current deal expiring next year.
