Sao Paulo sack coach Rogerio Ceni after six months in charge

Just six months after being hired to coach Sao Paulo, club legend Rogerio Ceni presented his formal resignation on Monday after a string of bad results, the club announced.

Sao Paulo's 2-0 loss to Flamengo on Sunday, combined with elimination in the Copa De Brasil and the Sudamericana contributed to Ceni's early exit, according to ESPN Brasil sources.

"We will always be grateful and show respect and recognition that we have for Rogerio Ceni as a historic figure at this institution," Sao Paulo president Carlos Augusto de Barros e Silva said.

The club sit in 17th place, in the relegation zone with 11 points from three wins and two draws in 11 matches.
