Los Angeles FC earn scoreless draw vs. Rapids

Los Angeles FC remained undefeated and the host Colorado Rapids are still without a victory after the teams played to a 0-0 tie Saturday night at Commerce City, Colo.

LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy made four saves for his third shutout of the season.

Colorado goalkeeper William Yarbrough stopped two shots.

The teams combined for 25 shots overall, with six on net. Both teams had corner kicks during extra time.

LAFC (3-0-2, 11 points) produced 14 shots, with four on target.

The Rapids (0-3-3, 3 points) were shutout victims for the fourth time this season and have only two goals in six games.

Colorado produced five of the last six shots of the first half. But none of the Rapids' launches in the opening half were on target, so McCarthy wasn't called upon for a save though he was busier by early in the second half.

Colorado didn't make a substitution until about 15 minutes into the second half. LAFC's first changes came 15 minutes later.

In between the substitutions, LAFC's Aaron Long was assessed a yellow card for a bad foul, but the Rapids didn't convert off that. Colorado's Michael Barrios was shown a yellow card in the 87th minute.

Yarbrough had one of the best stops in the first half by diving to his right to knock away a header from Carlos Vela.

The Rapids had a pair of corner kicks in the game's first 13 minutes before LAFC took over for a long stretch. But Colorado got going late in the first half, applying more pressure at its offensive end of the field.

Colorado's Andreas Maxso had a chance on a header from the middle of the box, but the attempt went wide to the right.

The Rapids ended up with five corner kicks in the first half to LAFC's one.
