Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Marc Albrighton were on target for Brendan Rodgers' side, who beat Chelsea 1-0 in last season's final.

Both managers fielded heavily-rotated sides for the tie, with 16 changes between them amid injuries and Africa Cup of Nations call-ups.

Leicester defender Jannik Vestergaard earned a penalty on six minutes when he was brought down by opposing defender Francisco Sierralta, and Tielemans was on hand to slot home and ensure an early lead.

Maddison doubled Leicester's lead with a chip over Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann following a through ball from forward Ademola Lookman.

The match was temporarily forced into darkness late in the second-half due to a lighting failure, causing a brief stoppage in play.

Barnes added a third on 54 minutes, finishing calmly after racing through on goal, and Albrighton capped a successful outing for Leicester with a strike from point-blank range in the final stages of the match.
