Gonzalo Higuain leads Inter Miami past Cincinnati

Gonzalo Higuain collected a goal and three assists and his brother Federico Higuain had one of each to lift host Inter Miami CF to a 5-1 win over FC Cincinnati on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Indiana Vassilev, Lewis Morgan and Julian Carranza also tallied as Inter Miami (11-15-5, 38 points) recorded their first four-goal victory in franchise history.

Inter Miami CF have outscored the opposition by an 8-1 margin after being on the business end of a 16-1 drubbing during their six-match skid.

Rodolfo Pizarro notched two assists and Nick Marsman made seven saves for the Herons, who have won all four of their all-time matches against FC Cincinnati.

Brandon Vazquez scored in the 21st minute and Przemyslaw Tyton finished with one save for FC Cincinnati (4-19-8, 20 points), who saw their franchise-record losing streak reach nine matches. FC Cincinnati last tasted victory in a 2-0 win over Toronto FC on Sept. 11.

Gonzalo Higuain headed home his brother's cross in the 53rd minute to give Inter Miami CF a 2-1 lead. Gonzalo Higuain's goal was his team-leading 11th of the season and third against FC Cincinnati. He also tallied twice in the Herons' 3-2 victory over FC Cincinnati on May 16.

Vassilev doubled the advantage with a blast from the right post in the 69th minute. Morgan tallied five minutes later and Carranza capped the scoring with his first goal of the season.

Inter Miami CF opened the scoring in the sixth minute as Pizarro chased down a loose ball just before it reached the end line. Pizarro deftly sent a cross to Federico Higuain, who forcibly headed it home inside the right post for his third goal of the season.

Vazquez netted the equalizer after he found his way past Miami's Christian Makoun and headed home Zico Bailey's cross in the 21st minute. The goal was Vazquez's third of the season and second in as many games.
