Revs tear up FC Cincinnati's defense, 4-1

Adam Buksa scored twice for New England's version of the Killer Bs as the host Revolution defeated FC Cincinnati 4-1 on Saturday to extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches.

Buksa, Tajon Buchanan and Emmanuel Boateng each had a goal and an assist for a 3-0 first-half lead as the Revolution (15-3-4, 49 points) won their fourth straight game. The Revs improved to eight wins and a tie in their past nine while outscoring opponents 21-8.

Buksa added a goal -- from Gustavo Bou -- in the 61st minute.

Keeping to the "B" theme, Cincinnati (3-8-8, 17 points) got a 54th-minute goal by Brenner but failed to win for a 10th straight game (three losses, seven ties) to set a club record since joining MLS in 2019.

FC Cincinnati had played four consecutive draws -- three of them 0-0 -- but New England, which leads the league in points and goals scored (44) shredded the defense early and often.

Buchanan scored for a third straight match in the 7th minute. Boateng from Buchanan and Buksa made it 2-0 in the 21st, and Buksa via Boateng upped the score to 3-0 in the 33rd.

New England won its sixth straight at Gillette Stadium where it is 9-1-1.

Buchanan got his sixth goal of the season and fourth in three games by cleaning up a rebound left by Przemyslaw Tyton. Left back Henry Kessler made a deep run and put the ball on goal to create the opportunity for Buchanan.

Buksa led the transition for the second score and Buchanan dribbled down the right side of the box before spotting Boateng for his first goal. On the third goal, Buksa tripped over himself, regained the ball and slotted a shot with his right foot.

Brenner from Luciano Acosta made it 3-1 from the center of the box before Buksa added his 10th goal.

Cincinnati plays at Columbus on Friday. The Revolution are at New York City FC on Aug. 28.
