Gustavo Bou helps New England Revolution edge Philadelphia Union

Gustavo Bou's goal in the 39th minute put the New England Revolution ahead for good as the Revs claimed a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union on Sunday night in Foxborough, Mass.

Bou's goal was his 11th of the season, matching Seattle forward Raul Ruidiaz for the MLS lead. Matt Polster also scored in the 10th minute and Matt Turner made five saves for league-leading New England, which extended its unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1).

Paxten Aaronson -- in his first MLS start -- scored his first MLS goal in the 31st minute for the Union. Andre Blake stopped two of four shots for Philadelphia, who had its three-match unbeaten streak (1-0-2) snapped.

The Union are winless in their last seven away matches (0-3-4) and suffered just their second loss ever against the Revolution (8-2-3).

Reigning MLS Player of the Month Bou put the Revolution on top 2-1 eight minutes after Aaronson tied it. Blake dove right to stop Bou's initial right-footed offering, but the forward collected the rebound and slammed it home with his left foot.

Polster gave New England an early 1-0 advantage with a right-footed strike from the left side of the box after a give-and-go with Tommy McNamara.

Philadelphia pulled level when Aaronson took a pass from Jakob Glesnes and worked himself free with some nifty foot work in the box before beating Turner on a left-footed rocket into the upper left corner.

Revolution captain and midfielder Carles Gil missed his second straight match while recovering from a reported sports hernia.

Philadelphia heads to Mexico City to face Club America in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League on Thursday night. The Union return to MLS play on Aug. 18 when they host New York City FC.
