Early goals lead to draw between Houston Dynamo, FC Cincinnati

Dynamo, Cincy trade early goals in 1-1 draw (1:05)

The Houston Dynamo and FC Cincinnati both score inside the opening five minutes of a 1-1 draw in Texas. (1:05)

Goals by Houston's Tyler Pasher and FC Cincinnati's Alvaro Barreal in the first five minutes of the match proved to be the lone scores as the teams played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in Houston.

The game was delayed for 30 minutes because of weather around the stadium area. But once it got underway, both teams were more than ready.

Houston got the scoring started, with Pasher taking a crossing pass in the third minute from Sam Junqua and ripping a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the top left corner of the net past Cincinnati keeper Kenneth Vermeer.

FC Cincy responded just two minutes later with the equalizer. Barreal got behind the Houston defense, corralled a long pass from Geoff Cameron and faked Houston goalkeeper Marko Maric to the ground on a one-on-one situation before finding the net.

The game was even the rest of the way as well, with each goaltender recording three saves. There were no serious scoring opportunities in the second half.

The Dynamo have four straight draws after recording two wins and two losses in their previous four matches.

FC Cincinnati have a three-game unbeaten streak after winning their past two games on the road.

The Dynamo forged advantages in most of the game's statistics, including possession percentage (52.2 percent to 47.8 percent), total shots (21-11), blocked shots (6-2), total passes (402-389), passing accuracy (82.6 percent to 79.2 percent), corner kicks (10-2), and duels won (61-48). FC Cincinnati had the edge in tackles won (11-9) and clearances (21-8).

Houston's tally in the early minutes on Saturday secured the 12th consecutive game with a goal to start the season, the longest the side has ever gone into a campaign without being shut out.
