Tajon Buchanan leads New England Revolution past New York Red Bulls for fourth straight home win

Tajon Buchanan's goal in first-half stoppage time put the Revolution ahead for good as host New England earned a fourth consecutive home victory with a 3-1 win against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night.

Gustavo Bou had a goal in the 36th minute and Adam Buksa scored in the 82nd for the Revolution. Matt Turner made two saves as New England strengthened its hold atop the Eastern Conference.

Andres Reyes opened the scoring in the seventh minute for New York. The Red Bulls remain winless in their last seven league road matches (0-5-2, including playoffs) dating back to last Oct. 14.

Buchanan crashed the net from the left and beat Red Bulls keeper Carlos Miguel Coronel on a right-footer from a tight angle to make it 2-1 in the 47th minute.

Bou's breakaway goal tied it for New England in the 36th minute. Buksa's left-footer from the goal area off of Bou's feed through the box sealed the win late in the second half.

Reyes headed in a corner kick by Frankie Amaya to give the Red Bulls an early 1-0 lead.

Reyes was shown a red card in the 38th minute after receiving a second yellow for a foot stomp on Revolution star midfielder Carles Gil, leaving New York to finish the match with 10 men.

Carles Gil went down clutching his left leg after a fruitless Revolution attack in the 68th minute. He briefly left the game before returning and re-agitating his leg in the 74th minute, but ultimately remained in the game.

New York opens a two-game homestand next Saturday against Orlando City SC. New England begins a stretch of four out of five matches on the road next Saturday at FC Cincinnati.
