Atlanta United FC beat Alajuelense 1-0 (2-0 on aggregate) to advance into the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals. Jurgen Damm scored in waning seconds for hosts Atlanta, who had defeated Alajuelense 1-0 in Costa Rica last week. Both sides had scoring opportunities throughout the match at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Atlanta goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo made a key save from Junior Diaz's header from a corner kick before Damm clinched the match with his goal. Atlanta now awaits the winners beween Philadelphia Union and Saprissa in the competition's other match-up featuring an MLS club and a Costa Rica side.
