ISL 2020-21: Jeakson Singh rescues late point for Kerala Blasters vs SC East Bengal

Jeakson Singh's injury-time equaliser helped Kerala Blasters FC snatch a point with a 1-1 draw against SC East Bengal on Sunday in Goa. Robbie Fowler's side had taken the lead in the 13th minute with Bakary Kone's own goal. The result means both sides are still without a win, the Blasters 9th with just 3 points from six games and SCEB bottom with just two points from six.

Both Kerala and SCEB made four changes apiece to their starting eleven. Kerala missed a great opportunity to grab the lead via a set-piece early on. Facundo Pereyra whipped in a fine cross from a corner and the ball fell towards an onrushing Costa Nhamoinesu, whose header clipped the top of the crossbar.

Although Kerala shaded possession in the first half, it was SCEB who created better opportunities and deservedly grabbed the lead in the 13th minute when Bakary Kone's attempted clearance from Mohammed Rafique's cross ended up in his own net.

Kerala made three substitutions at the break with Sahal Abdul Samad among those brought on. The changes proved effective as Kerala started the second half strong.

Kibu Vicuna's men nearly drew level in the 51st minute when another big chance went begging. Kone leapt high to meet Pereyra's cross but his header only managed to find the side netting. They were then denied in the 70th minute by SCEB keeper Debjit Majumder, who pulled off a great save to stop Jordan Murray's volley.

The equaliser came in the 95th minute, with Jeakson rising high to head home substitute Sahal Abdul Samad's cross from close range.

Kerala Blasters next face Hyderabad FC on December 27, while East Bengal face Chennaiyin FC on December 26.
