Monaco get back on track with early Falcao goal

Radamel Falcao scored his first Ligue 1 goal in more than a month to end defending champions Monaco's bad patch with a 1-0 win over Angers.

The Colombian striker struck in the second minutes with his 14th goal this season -- but his first since Oct. 21 -- in his 13th game, and it was enough for Monaco to secure a scrappy victory following three consecutive losses in all competitions.

While it was a welcome victory for Leonardo Jardim's men after two consecutive Ligue 1 defeats, it hardly offered evidence that Monaco are capable of hauling back PSG's still-sturdy lead at the top.

With Marseille not playing until Sunday, Monaco moved back to second in the table, nine points behind PSG, who suffered their first defeat of the season at Strasbourg on Saturday.
