Pescara edge Palermo in meeting of relegated clubs

Bottom side Pescara claimed a rare win in their final home game of the season as they beat fellow Serie A strugglers Palermo 2-0 at Stadio Adriatico.

Both clubs were already condemned to relegation but a 15th-minute header from Robert Muric and Alexandru Mitrita's strike three minutes from time at least gave the Pescara fans something to cheer.

The hosts started brightly and went close through Alberto Cerri before Muric marked his first Serie A start by opening the scoring from a Gianluca Caprari cross.

Ilija Nestorovski spurned a chance to equalise when he shot at Vincenzo Fiorillo and Ivaylo Chochev forced a good save from the home goalkeeper with a header.

Cerri was twice wasteful as Pescara upped the pace in the second half but they wrapped up the points in the latter stages when substitute Mitrita raced through to score from a Gaston Brugman pass.
