PSV Eindhoven beat Wolfsburg, back in Champions League Group B mix

PSV Eindhoven hauled themselves back into contention in Group B with a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg.

Goals from Jurgen Locadia and captain Luuk de Jong ensured the Dutch side bounced back after successive defeats in the Champions League.

Wolfsburg had an early chance to take the lead but Luiz Gustavo headed Ricardo Rodriguez's free-kick over the top.

PSV threatened after 12 minutes when Jeffrey Bruma's 30-yard drive was tipped round a post by Diego Benaglio and from the corner, Bruma headed Andres Guardado's cross narrowly wide.

Bas Dost was then denied from close range by PSV keeper Jeroen Zoet while, at the other end, Benaglio pulled off a fine save to thwart Locadia.

But Locadia was not to be denied for long and 10 minutes after the interval he drilled in the opener, smashing De Jong's pass from the left.

Adam Maher almost doubled the advantage in the 70th minute but his header flew wide.

Ronaldo Naldo came close to equalising for Wolfsburg but his fierce drive was acrobatically kept out by Zoet.

But PSV secured the points five minutes from time when Guardado fed De Jong, who scored with a cheeky lob to wrap up a crucial victory.
