Israel hold on to secure win over Liechtenstein

Israel made it two wins out of three in Group G with a 2-1 victory over World Cup qualifying minnows Liechtenstein.

Tomer Hemed gave the hosts a fourth-minute lead in Jerusalem when his header at a corner was too powerful for defender Maximilian Goppel to clear off the line.

Brighton forward Hemed scored his second 12 minutes later, taking his tally to three in two matches, when he diverted in a left-wing cross from Tal Ben Haim.

Goppel gave the visitors some hope with a goal, Liechtenstein's first of the qualifying campaign, just after the break but Israel held on.
