Luxembourg salvage late draw with Belarus

Ten-man Luxembourg claimed their first point in World Cup European Qualifying Group A as Aurelien Joachim's late free-kick secured them a 1-1 draw against Belarus in Borisov.

The visitors had Dirk Carlson sent off in the 44th minute and looked set for their third straight defeat in the pool when Belarus substitute Pavel Savitskiy headed home with 10 minutes to go.

But Joachim's deflected dead-ball effort five minutes later ensured Luxembourg, who stay bottom of the group, took something from the contest. Belarus, now with two points from their three games, remain fifth.
