Austria on brink of qualifying for Euro 2016 after win over Moldova

Zlatko Junuzovic scored the only goal of the game as Austria continued their impressive run with a 1-0 win over Moldova in Vienna.

Marcel Koller's side have now gone four Euro 2016 qualifying games without conceding a goal, and they were totally dominant against a Moldova side with just two points.

The hosts began strongly as Moldova invited pressure on to them, but were soon reduced to speculative long-range efforts.

David Alaba and Marko Arnautovic failed to trouble Ilie Cebanu in the visitors' goal early on, but he was called into action to deny Zlatko Junuzovic's header after 15 minutes.

Austria continued to be wasteful in front of goal, with a mixture of poor finishing and Cebanu keeping the score goalless until the break.

It did not last, however, as Junuzovic was on hand in the 52nd minute to notch his sixth international goal.

Alaba had again tried a long-distance effort but his shot was parried into the path of the striker, who had no problem finishing from six yards.

Florian Klen then had a similar shot turned away by Cebanu into the path of Arnautovic, but the Stoke attacker was unable to double his side's lead and saw his shot dribble into the hands of a grateful goalkeeper.

Austria continued to lay siege to the Moldova goal, but were nearly undone at the back late on as Nicolae Milinceanu found his way into the area and saw his shot saved by Robert Almer.
