Parma 1-0 Fiorentina

Parma picked up only their third win of the season on Tuesday, denying wasteful Fiorentina a place in Serie A's top six with a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.Andrea Costa scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute to earn Roberto Donadoni's men a much-needed victory which nevertheless does not lift them off the foot of the table.Fiorentina's defeat was compounded by red cards for Gonzalo Rodriguez and Stefan Savic, who will both miss the clash with Palermo at the weekend, and a penalty miss by Mario Gomez, who remains on just one goal for the season.Fresh from a takeover before Christmas, Parma came into their first game of 2015 with renewed optimism for a brighter future. After 13 minutes, that future looked even more promising as Costa lost his marker, together with two other Parma players, to nod in Alessandro Lucarelli's near-post flick from close range.Fiorentina tried to make up for their defensive lapse with Gomez going close with a header. The Viola went close again moments later when Joaquin headed the ball down and Juan Cuadrado's shot on the turn was stopped by Antonio Mirante.Cuadrado then saw his path blocked by Paolo De Ceglie and the referee awarded Fiorentina a penalty.Gomez, still stuck on just one goal this season, decided to take an ideal opportunity to improve that tally, but Mirante further dented the German's already low confidence by making a save.Vincenzo Montella's men continued to ask all of the questions with Savic testing Mirante with a shot from outside the penalty area.As the minutes ticked by, Parma became increasingly defensive, trying to preserve their slender advantage.Rodriguez did them a favour with 10 minutes remaining when he picked up his second yellow card of the game, complicating his side's hopes of recovering.Six minutes later, Savic joined him prematurely in the dressing room when he too was shown a second yellow card for lashing out at Antonio Cassano.Parma had no problems defending their advantage with two extra men and even produced their second shot on goal of the game, in the last minute, but Ciprian Tatarusanu, preferred by Montella to the departing Neto, made a save from Andrea Rispoli low down at his post.ends
