Super-sub Henderson leaves it late

Substitute Conor Henderson struck a dramatic late winner as Crawley earned a fortuitous 1-0 win over Walsall in Sky Bet League One at the Checkatrade.com Stadium. The former Arsenal midfielder scored his first goal for the club in the 89th minute when he curled a free-kick from 25 yards over the defensive wall and into the top corner. It was harsh on struggling Walsall but they only had themselves to blame. The Saddlers created a host of opportunities but their finishing was woeful. When they did get efforts on target they were thwarted by Crawley goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown, who made two superb saves to deny ex-Chelsea midfielder Romaine Sawyer in the space of four minutes early in the second half.Adam Chambers and Paul Downing also failed to hit the target when well placed. The home side had offered little in the way of an attacking threat until Henderson produced a superb piece of skill after he had been fouled by Walsall skipper Chambers. His strike meant Crawley, who had conceded nine goals in their previous two games, gained a welcome victory.
