Inter Milan survived a scare but maintained their perfect record in the Champions League with a 2-1 win at home to Kairat Almaty.

Lautaro Martínez and Carlos Augusto struck either side of Ofri Arad's equaliser at San Siro.

The hosts were almost ahead after 10 minutes as Federico Dimarco's shot was parried to Martinez, whose effort was flicked behind on the line by Yegor Sorokin.

Inter wanted a penalty after 16 minutes when Davide Frattesi went down under challenge from Kairat skipper Arad but the protests were waved away.

Two minutes later, Portuguese referee Luis Godinho pointed to the spot when Yann Aurel Bisseck went down after coming together with Arad but the VAR intervened, with replays showing the Inter defender initiated the contact.

Dastan Satpayev went close for Kairat as his 44th-minute shot from 20 yards deflected onto the crossbar.

Inter reacted to take the lead moments later as Denzel Dumfries' cross found Pio Esposito, whose blocked shot fell for Martinez to scramble in his eighth of the season at the second time of asking.

But 10 minutes after the break, Kairat stunned the three-time champions as Christian Chivu's side conceded their first goal in this season's competition. Inter failed to deal with a corner and the ball looped up to Arad for the midfielder to plant his header in from eight yards.

Kairat goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov denied Esposito one-on-one and scrambled to keep out Petar Sucic's follow-up after 65 minutes but had no chance with Augusto's drilled strike from 20 yards two minutes later as the Brazilian restored Inter's lead.

Inter, who have lost just one of their last 11 games in all competitions, held on to join Arsenal and Bayern Munich with four wins from four.
