Chelsea v København
Chelsea overcome Copenhagen to secure UECL quarterfinal spot
Chelsea earned their spot in the Conference League quarterfinals on Thursday after a 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen at Stamford Bridge secured a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
Enzo Maresca's much-changed side barely threatened the Copenhagen defence in the first half as they failed to register a single shot on goal while the visitors managed four of their own.
The hosts' display in the first 45 minutes drew some boos from their own supporters when the referee blew the half-time whistle.
But Chelsea made the breakthrough on the night to extend their aggregate lead over the Danish side as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's shot across goalkeeper Diant Ramaj from the left side of the box found the far corner.
Chelsea's improvement coincided with Cole Palmer's introduction off the bench and he almost ended his goal drought with a shot that sailed narrowly wide.
Copenhagen almost set up a grandstand finish, but Rodrigo Huescas fired a shot over the crossbar after finding space in the penalty area.
