Orlando Pride edge Kansas City Current 2-1

The Orlando Pride, led by Barbra Banda and Marta, secured a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Current at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday.

Barbra Banda opened the scoring for Orlando in the 37th minute with a right-footed shot from the center of the box that found the bottom-right corner. However, Kansas City quickly responded two minutes later when Temwa Chawinga netted an equalizer with a left-footed shot assisted by Izzy Rodriguez.

The first half saw multiple bookings, including yellow cards for Carrie Lawrence and Marta of Orlando and Claire Hutton of Kansas City. Lawrence received her second yellow card in the 42nd minute, reducing Orlando to ten players.

Despite being down a player, Orlando took control early in the second half. In the 63rd minute, Marta converted a penalty kick after Adrianna Franch was penalized for fouling Adriana inside the box. This goal proved decisive as it gave Orlando a lead it would not relinquish.

Kansas City made several substitutions in an attempt to find an equalizer but was unable to break through Orlando's defense again. Notable efforts included shots from Michelle Cooper and Lauren that were saved or missed narrowly.
