ATK Mohun Bagan cruised to its fifth successive Kolkata Derby victory as the Mariners defeated East Bengal 2-0 in their Indian Super League (ISL) match on Saturday.

Juan Ferrando's side climbs to the fourth spot on the table and are as many points off the top with a game in hand. East Bengal's third loss of the season sees them remain in eighth place.

Ferrando made just one change to his line-up as Subhasish Bose came in for Ashique Kuruniyan on the left flank, while Stephen Constantine made no changes.

ATK Mohun Bagan looked menacing in the opening quarter with Bose nearly taking the lead when his shot flashed across the goal. East Bengal had a golden chance to take the early lead but Thongkhosiem Haokip's header from Naorem Singh's cross was parried to safety by Vishal Kaith in the 16th minute.

Jordan O'Doherty, midway through the first half, went down in the box after a nudge from Asish Rai but was not awarded a penalty.

The Mariners went ahead in the 56th minute via a long-range strike from Hugo Boumous. The Frenchman let the ball rip from a good 40 yards out and Kamaljit Singh made a mess of an easy save as he turned the ball into his net.

ATK Mohun Bagan doubled their lead 10 minutes later as Manvir Singh's goal-bound strike took a slight deflection off Jerry Lalrinzuala's boot and beat Kamaljit at the near-post.

Kaith was quick to react in the 68th minute to deny O'Doherty's powerful long-range effort. Minutes later, Eliandro dos Santos, who came on for Ivan Gonzalez, muscled through the ATKMB defence and played a sublime pass towards Cleiton Silva before the attack was thwarted by the Mariners substitute Lenny Rodrigues.
