New York Red Bulls continue Toronto FC's road woes

Lewis Morgan and Lucas Lima Linhares, also known as Luquinhas, scored goals for the New York Red Bulls in their 2-0 win over visiting Toronto FC Saturday night in Harrison, New Jersey.

New York (7-4-5, 26 points) won for just the second time at Red Bull Arena this season, and in doing so ran its unbeaten streak to seven games against its Canadian rivals. The win was just the second in the Red Bulls' last seven games overall.

Toronto FC (4-8-3, 15 points) had not played a match since May 28. The team is winless in eight away matches this season and has either drawn or lost 16 straight on the road. It's the longest winless streak away from home in club history.

New York goalkeeper Carlos Coronel maintained his three-save shutout with a stop of a shot by Jacob Shaffelburg of Toronto FC in the 82nd minute. Shaffelburg was all alone on a breakaway.

Morgan scored off a corner kick not even two minutes into the match. John Tolkin provided the set piece assist.

The Red Bulls' second goal came in the 56th minute. A long ball came to Tom Barlow, whose initial shot was saved by Toronto's Alex Bono. But the ball came to Luquinhas, who provided the finish.

Morgan and Luquinhas are the top two goal scorers this season for the Red Bulls, with seven and five goals, respectively. Coronel earned his fourth clean sheet of the season.

New York had two more chances for goals, but the first was called back due to an offside and the second was saved.

New York guaranteed itself a place in the top three in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference, while Toronto can be no higher than 12th place at the end of the weekend.
