Real Socieded climbed to fifth in La Liga after an ultimately comfortable 2-0 win at mid-table Malaga.

Inigo Martinez and Juanmi claimed the goals early in the second half after an evenly contested first period.

Martinez opened the scoring after 50 minutes when his free kick deflected off Duda and looped under the crossbar.

Malaga appealed for a penalty after Ignacio Camacho appeared to be pulled back by Martinez but nothing was given.

Juanmi appeared offside when he was left open to score Sociedad's second after 62 minutes but replays suggested one player out wide may have played him on.
