Ten-time winners Marseille laboured past fifth-division amateurs Granville 1-0 to reach the Coupe de French semifinals on Thursday.

Striker Michy Batshuayi connected with a precise cross from Benjamin Mendy at the near post to score with a low shot in the 50th minute.

Marseille, the competition's most successful club, created half a dozen chances but Granville goalkeeper Jeremy Aymes ensured the suspense remained until the very end with good saves.

Marseille are drawn away to Sochaux in the semifinals, while holders Paris Saint-Germain travel to Lorient.
