Angers and St Etienne both missed out on the chance to claim three vital points in the battle for a European spot following a 0-0 draw at the Stade Jean Bouin.The visitors went agonisingly close on two occasions before half-time but Neal Maupay saw his point-blank effort inadvertently kept out by team-mate Kevin Theophile-Catherine before Romain Saiss' header was hacked off the line by Jeremy Clement.Maupay was guilty of wasteful finishing again on the hour mark, wildly volleying wide from Valentin Eysseric's corner in what was one of the few decent chances in the game.Angers' best opportunity came direct from a free-kick but Billy Ketkeophomphone's effort from 25 yards was kept out by Stephane Ruffier despite taking a deflection off the wall.ends
