VfB Stuttgart 2-2 SC Freiburg

Freiburg fought back from two goals down to snatch a point at 10-man Stuttgart in a dramatic Baden-Wurttemberg derby.Daniel Ginczek and Martin Harnik put Stuttgart in command in a dominant first half from the hosts, but it was a different story in the second half.Nils Petersen scored either side of a red card for Adem Hlousek as Freiburg maintained their three-point advantage over their local rivals at the foot of the table with a 2-2 draw.It was every bit a derby atmosphere both on and off the field with the tackles flying in on both sides and referee Wolfgang Stark had his work cut out keeping a lid on things. The hosts then built up a head of steam with Harnik stinging Roman Burki's palms, but Christian Gentner could not reach the rebound, claiming he had been impeded with the home fans packed in behind the goal agreeing, but not Stark.Stuttgart took the lead in the 24th minute when Harnik was sent down the right wing and his low cross took a couple of deflections on its way to Ginczek, who managed to hook his foot around the ball and guide it into the far corner as he went to ground.A second goal arrived within three minutes with much of the credit going to Filip Kostic for a strong, determined run down the left wing and a cross to the near post which Harnik met with the same determination to poke the ball in.That sort of determination was instead shown by Freiburg in the second half as they were clearly given a piece of coach Christian Streich's mind during the break. They had an altogether different attitude and their reward came when Hlousek stuck his arm out to block Jonathan Schmid as he lifted the ball past him inside the area.Petersen struck the resulting spot-kick high into the top right-hand corner, and it was game on at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.Less than 10 minutes later, Hlousek saw red for a needless foul in midfield, fuelling Freiburg's belief that they could still get something out of the game. They continued to push for an equaliser, succeeding with five minutes left on the clock when Oliver Sorg's shot which was headed wide turned into an assist for Petersen at the far post, sending the visiting fans wild with joy and drawing a chorus of boos from the home fans at the final whistle.ends
