Real Madrid announce new Cristiano Ronaldo contract until 2021

Real Madrid announced Sunday that Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a new contract that will keep him with the team until 2021. He will be presented in front of the Bernabeu on Monday.

Ronaldo, 31, had a deal that was slated to run until June 2018, and talks regarding an extension between his agent, Jorge Mendes, and Blancos chief Florentino Perez reportedly began weeks ago. Ronaldo said in June that he could see himself playing until he was 40.

"The official event for the renewal of Cristiano Ronaldo's contract will take place tomorrow, Monday 7 November at 1:30pm in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium," a statement read.

"The Portuguese forward will extend his contract until 30 June 2021 at the event attended by club president Florentino Pérez and the player himself."

Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Lucas Vazquez and Gareth Bale have all signed new contracts in past few weeks, with reports in England claiming Bale had replaced Ronaldo as Madrid's highest-paid player.

Other Madrid players in the queue for renewals include defender Pepe, whose deal ends next summer, and playmaker Isco, whose contract runs until June 2018.

Information from ESPN FC's Madrid correspondent, Dermot Corrigan, was used in this report.
